Dubai International Academic City is hosting its first ever ‘Week of Welcome’ this year from the 12 to the 16 of October. Held by Knowledge Village every year in a bid to welcome the freshmen, ‘Week of Welcome’ is to be the biggest event Academic City has witnessed so far. The ‘Week of Welcome’ or W.O.W as it is called is organised by Student Hub, a branch of the Dubai Student Services Program (DSSP) and seeks to officially welcome all the DIAC students and give them a preview of student life here in DIAC.

Here is the list of events scheduled for the week of welcome.

Student Orientation – 12th-13th October

A description of college life in DIAC, The orientation will answer questions regarding, transfer options, student visa issues etc.

Time: 10:00am. to 2:00pm. Venue: DIAC Fresher’s Bash- 13th October

The official DIAC fresher’s party organized at the brand new food court at DIAC. Your DJ for the night.. Dj Tushar(club touch)/Dj Zubair(decibel). Food court to be inaugurated the same evening. Tickets to be sold on first come first serve basis. Time: 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Venue: DIAC Tickets priced at Dhs 20 /- Movie Night- 14th October

A special screening of the movie ‘Eagle’s eye’ for DIAC students at Mercato Mall. Tickets to be sold on first come first serve basis. Time: 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Venue: Mercato mall Tickets priced at Dh 10/- Quiz Competition- 15th October An afternoon of quizzing organised by the University of Wollongong. A fun filled day to tickle your brain. Time: 1:00pm. to 6:00pm Venue: DIAC Desert Safari- 16th October

A whole day of unadulterated leisure in the sand dunes of Dubai, with actives ranging from dune bashing to camel rides, volleyball, dance party, to be concluded with a traditional Arabic meal. Time: 3:00pm to 10:00pm Tickets for the desert safari have been sold out.

Also, watch out for the fun filled carnival running throughout the week on campus!

Subodh Chawla, a member of Student Hub said that the response to the event was overwhelming, with students eager to be a part of the event; “Desert safari tickets have been sold out, and there are only limited number of tickets left for the movie night, Hurry Up!”, he added.

Mrs Uma Prasad, Student Services Officer said that this event would be an ice-breaker of sorts. “It is a wonderful opportunity to welcome all the new students into the DIAC family, it will give the students a chance to interact with one another”, she said.
