Media and Marketing Show 2008 was held at Dubai World Trade Centre between the 3rd to the 5th of November, 2008. The only show of its kind in this region, the 3 day event provides a platform for interaction among various media and marketing professionals. The patrons and partners for this event were Dubai Media City, Design Werks, Dubai Media Incorporated, Media Monitoring Partner, and Eye of Dubai. Around 9,000 visitors were expected to attend this event.
The participants came from a host of various specializations that included advertising and creative agencies which consisted of outdoor advertisers as well as marketing services. Also present were TV and radio broadcasters along with publishers and printers. New media agencies included online and multimedia specialists and animation and post production specialists. Besides these there were also photo agencies and media planners and buyers.
The second and third day of the show featured a series of seminars and workshops. One of the workshops was the Sitcom workshop organized by Hollywood in Dubai and led by the famous Emmy-nominated Co-Executive Producer of Everybody Loves Raymond series Ellen Sandler.
IPSOS MediaCT, conducted workshops targeting media buyers and account planners covering the basics of media planning and the measurement of reach for TV and outdoor media.
The confrerences held by Mr. Adonis El Fakih, CEO of Ayna Corporation on optimizing online advertising. This was followed by another presentation on the relationship between online and offline advertising by Mr. Husni Khuffash, Country Business Development Manager for Google. The conference by Al Manar TV shed light on the relationship between freedom and governing rules.
This year, AMG focused on promoting Internet radio, the latest addition to their kitty. According to Mr Ashraf Iqabl, from 96.7 “Internet radio is slowly gaining impetus, Once the trend catches on it will be the next big thing. ” He also spoke about the differences between the different types of radio available online. “The internet offers two varieties of radio, one that you can tune into even offline and the other that can be heard only on the internet.”
Kyp Systems launched the innovative iKyp communications tool. The London based company offers a range of products and services including the iKyp - a paper-based marketing tool, which stresses on the concept of compact marketing strategies.
The Times group was present , promoting the middle east edition of their newspaper.
Dubai Municipality was there as well, creating awareness for their latest campaign against the stray cats of the city as well as the hazards of carbon dioxide pollution and its effects on the environment.
The event turned out to be the best place to meet and mix with all the key Players who are shaping the future of the industry in the region.
Tasneem Salim, a student visitor said “MMS 08’ was definitely an eye-opener as it helped us interact with various industry professionals and gave us students a glimpse of the middle east media scene.”
