The 9th Skyline Inter University Table Tennis Tournament was held at the host university’s campus from 5th to 9th of April. It saw the Manipal girls bag the laurels yet again. Continuing the winning streak from last year, the girls came out on top in both the individual as well as the group event. Besides the host university, the others to take part in the tournament were the University of Wollongong, American University of Sharjah and Bits-Pilani, Dubai. In the individual event, the two players to reach the finals were Joanna and Dimple, both of whom were representing the Manipal University. Knowing that Manipal was a cinch to get the winner’s trophy, the finalists did not take it easy. Both of them put their best foot, or might we say racquets forward and played a competitive match. In the end, Joanna was the winner, beating Dimple at 3 sets out of 5. The group event again was a cake-walk for the girls because though good, the other universities were no match for the chops and smashes of our girls. The finals were played between the University of Wollongong and Manipal University, where Manipal won both the singles as well as the doubles. All our players kept their cool throughout the matches and focused on their game. And once again our university brought back another prestigious trophy! What is more commendable is that they had two tournaments going on at the same time, the Skyline Tournament and the Bits Sports Festival. Despite all the pressure from both sides, they handled it very well and emerged victorious at both the tournaments. The Table-tennis team members - Dimple, Joanna, Ayesha, Roshny and Rabiya.
