The Department of ISM has succeeded yet again to give its students a bigger platform to showcase their talents. The Department has achieved in establishing relations with IEEE and set up the IEEE Manipal University – Dubai Student Branch.
IEEE is a non-profit organization, one of the world's leading professional associations for the advancement of technology. It is the world’s largest technology based community. Hence, the department has provided a platform for Manipal students to be a part of a global community of Professionals.
The IEEE Manipal branch includes of 50 student members from the Department of ISM and BBA and 3 faculty members. The Branch Counsellor, Mr Vishwesh Akre, senior lecturer of the department of ISM and Branch Chairman Raza Iqbal, VI semester student has formed 5 committees which will be carrying out various activities. The Editorial Committee will be creating and managing a technology blog and publishing the proposed IEEE Student Chapter magazine.
The Executive Committee will be looking after the entire branch operation. They would be reporting to IEEE UAE Head - from AUS and New Jersey officials. They would also get some working budget from the UAE Region office for managing events, conducting workshops and other activities.
The Events committee will be organizing the events such as - workshops, seminars and also invite other universities to attend.
The Membership committee would keep account of existing members and provide membership to interested students. The membership fees for students in $25 per head and for faculty members is $142 per head.
