The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) was established in early 1996 with the objective of steering the helm of yet another brainchild of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.
The 15th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), the 32 day shopping, entertainment and cultural extravaganza started in a colorful manner. The DSF 2010 commenced on 28th January 2010 and will continue until 28th February 2010. Global Village–Dubai’s eagerly anticipated multi-cultural theme park–opened for the 2009-2010 season from Sunday, 22 November and will remain open for 98 days until 27 February, 2010.Global Village, welcomed its visitors warmly promising a complete package of entertainment and adventure through its various attractions.
Global Village’s shopaholic’s delight, the Pavilions are where craftsmen and tradesmen of the world come together to display and sell their wares. Along with these major attractions there were many performances which represented their respective cultures. The most energetic and dynamic performance was done by African performers attracting large population at global village by celebrating African culture as a whole through music, dance and costume - an exhilarating addition to the entertainment program. How can one go without trying the flavors of the world with large amount of restaurants, cafes, and kiosks scattered all over the venue. The most populated restaurants were Indian and Pakistani restaurants offering their most famous spicy and mouth watering kababs and various other delicious cuisines.
Global Village at Dubailand is open to the public from 4pm to midnight except Thursday, Friday, and Saturday when it’s open till 1am. Monday’s are families-only night. Tickets are 10 AED per person and a VIP pack is also available.
