International Women's Day (8 March) is celebrated to acknowledge the various economic, political and social achievements of women. Women's Day is the celebration of ordinary women as makers of history. It is rooted in the centuries-old struggle of women to participate in society on an equal footing with men.

Throughout history, women have fought their way through exploitation, subjugation and harassment and have managed to secure their rights in the public domain. In spite of continuing exploitation and injustice against women both in the domestic and work sector today, several milestones have been achieved in terms of education, freedom of choice and liberty.

In the following videos compiled in celebration of Womens' Day, we pay homage to two of the most iconic and prolific women in world history – Mother Teresa and Indira Gandhi. Their achievements, in their own respective fields exemplify the strength and courage of a woman. While Mother Teresa changed lives through her love, compassion and selflessness; Indira Gandhi reined over the most populous democracy for 15 years through her resilience and determination.

On this day, we pay tribute to Women all over the world who are changing lives in their own little way.

Happy Womens' Day!
