The Onion is a very nice vegetable. However, the site www.theonion.com bears no resemblance to the vegetable but it does make you cry with tears of humour. The Onion is a satirical news site which aims to inject a dose of laughter into the veins of a profession which otherwise is monotonous and mundane. A good example is one of its headlines which read, ‘Nasa scientists aim to approach girl by 2018’.
The Onion cleverly reports fictional news as well as gives a quirky twist on actual events.
The site looks like an actual news website especially because of the sections displayed such as ‘world’, ‘nation’ etc.
News has always been a melange of facts which are interrupted by news moguls but The Onion removes veneer of secret agendas and delivers the news with comic relief.
The site’s humour is a breath of fresh air, and it’s infatuation with the humour is underpinned by its sarcastic motto ‘America’s Finest News Stories’.
