Bits-Pilani Dubai celebrated their 10th anniversary recently with its cultural festival – Jashn.  The eight day Inter-collegiate event was competed for by participants from ten universities from all over Dubai. The event,  which ran from 19th  March to 26th March 2010, was held in the BITS Dubai campus.

Once again, Manipal students proved their worth by bagging awards in each of the six events. Hemal Vaya and Muhammad Ali proved their mettle as efficient speakers when both of them secured 2nd place for ‘The Big Fight’. Muhammad Ali also won 2nd position in the ‘Just A Minute’ round.

Manipal boys retained their standing as expert quizzers at Jashn 2010. The trio, Keegan Pereira, Muhammad Ali and Abhishek bagged second place at ‘BQuizzed’ – the quizzing event.

Our vocalists and dancers were not far behind either. The victories go as follows:

Eastern Group Singing - 1st position
Eastern Solo Singing     - 2nd position to Roshini Pradeep
Western Solo Singing   - 2nd position to Alistan Cruz
Eastern Group Dance   - 2nd position

Manipal’s in-house band also performed their way to the second place at the ‘Battle of the Bands’ (Orchestra).

Our biggest victory was in the drama category where the Manipal theatre production, ‘The Choice’, not only won  Best Play but also took the awards for Best Actor in both the Male and Female category. Haresh Harikumar and Smriti Gulati were the respective recipients of the honour.

With so many victories at one event, our students have added yet another feather to Manipal’s cap. Here’s wishing them all hearty congratulations for their stupendous performance at Jashn 2010.
