Manipal University’s Foundation department held their annual art exhibition on 28th April 2010. Sponsored by Kings Gold Factory, Just Orient and the R.G.N.S group, ‘Lux Nova – The Art Twirl’ was their vehicle to showcase their art and event management skills. Under the watchful eye of Ms Zakiya, the students of the Foundation batch of 2010 displayed their creations. The art on display included exquisite paintings, intrinsic pottery designs, innovative clay models, candle designs, embroidery and other handicrafts.
The auditorium was dimly lit, to focus the spotlights on the display stands. A henna corner and a food stand were added to draw crowds, both of which proved to be effective crowd pullers. The visitors were regaled by duet singing performances by the Foundation students themselves. Visitors were encouraged to put their names into the bumper draw which offered attractive prizes to the participants. The comments chart was filled with visitors appreciation for these budding artisans. The art exhibition was given a unique flavor as it offered psychologically oriented games which were a hot favorite amongst the visitors. Mrs Seena Biju, a professor from the BBA department won the Memory game as well as the Mirror game with ease. The winners walked away with gift hampers containing – Dinner vouchers, Wild Wadi tickets , Mp3 players , Cash Prizes as well as Blackberry covers.
The variety of art work showcased springs from their art appreciation classes, where they are taught about the various art forms from around the world. The students have been working on art projects like candle craving, and exquisite clay work all semester. “We worked hard to try and make this the best event hosted by a foundation group. Our efforts paid off when we saw a packed auditorium and the comment charts full of good responses.” says Waqaar Ali Khan, a Foundation student.
