In an effort to showcase the academic community, DIAC hosted the annual DIAC Open Day on Saturday, 24 April 2010 from 2pm to 7pm.

Dubai International Academic City (DIAC), the first dedicated tertiary cluster development in the world, is a regional base for premier international higher education institutions. Spread across an area of 18 million square foot, the DIAC campus provides an intellectually inspiring environment for students and faculty.

The DIAC open Day invited students and their families to visit the DIAC campus revealing to be one of wonderful opportunity to meet a range of academic institutions all under one roof as experts from over 10 international universities that were able to help students make the most important decision of their education.
Among these Universities, Manipal University, Dubai also exhibited themselves at the DIAC Open Day, entailing students on the major programmes offered such as engineering, biotechnology, fashion and design, interior design, media and communications, information technology and business management programs.

Being one of three universities offering Fashion designing as a course, students took the opportunity to flaunt twelve exquisite designs, each designed by the final year students of the fashion department, “The Fashion show was very good form of exposure for us,” said Ms. Manisha Sadhwani, a final year fashion designing student.

“Fashion show, hosted at the DIAC open Day was a preview of our designs that were originally created for our annual event, Fashionova that is scheduled later this year.” she added.

Nihad Ahmed and Rachel Lewis, first year students from the Department of Media and Communications entertained audiences with their enthralling performances such as dancing and singing respectively. While DJ Saz (Rana Sarjil), final year student from Department of Media and Communications played out rhythmic tracks to lighten up the educational event.

Besides engaging educational stalls, other attractions included face painting, nail art, henna stalls and a BUZZ gaming area. Concurrently, prize vouchers were also awarded to attendees who answered on the spot quiz questions correctly.
