24th November will be remembered as a special day by a group of students in Manipal University Dubai. Seven students will be performing a dance welcoming Her Excellency Pratibha Patil, President of India at her address at Dubai International Academic City.

President Patil is India’s 12th President and the first woman to hold the post. She will be addressing students and faculty of various Indian Universities in Dubai at the auditorium of the Higher Colleges of Technology, Dubai Men’s College.

The Manipal University Dubai students in the dance troupe were chosen from various Departments (Management, Engineering and Media) after a long and arduous selection process. They have been practicing long and hard for more than two weeks to ensure an unforgettable performance for the President’s visit. Aishwarya, Sudhakshana, Sahithi, Sanjana, Amruta, Vishnupriya and Hiba are the excited and proud students who will be performing this evening.

They were ecstatic to hear that their performance was one of the “best among all other colleges” during the rehearsal rounds.

Two students- Shabnam Isha of 3rd Year Interior Design and Gokul Warrier of Engineering Department have been selected as part of the choir for singing the Indian Anthem.

When asked about their sentiments regarding the President’s visit, all the students had similar thoughts. They were nervous given they has to perform in the presence of Her Excellency, the President of India and other VIPs. They are very excited and hope to do their best on stage.
