Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) as part of their commitment to social duties, recently announced free basement parking spaces for individuals with special needs. Individuals who carry the RTA Blue cards/Permanent Disability Permit are allowed to park in these parking areas. This is a complimentary offer by the DIAC Management.

Along with this permit, the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) have given two important conditions which need to be followed by all carrying the Permit. Firstly, the vehicle carrying the ‘Handicapped parking card’ must ensure that it is owned by a first degree relative or the applicant himself. Secondly, the card can be only made use of when the physically challenged vehicle owner is present in the car. In any unlikely situation, individuals who use the vehicle without the physically challenged relative will be fined.

Individuals who hold the other categories of RTA Cards, such as the red, green or yellow cards are not eligible to this complimentary basement parking. Also, these cards can be obtained by the RTA and will be the only card that would be recognized for this parking.
