RIP Steve Jobs: February 1955-October 2011.
There was an era when we used over sized phones with long antennas and computers that looked like a large cardboard box. In the wildest of dreams, people never expected that technology would revolutionize drastically over the past years. Have you imagined a life without cell phones, the Internet, or the computer?

In the present day, we have become so dependent on our gadgets, that a day without it would make us feel incomplete. This mastermind, Steve Jobs, brought the most progressing changes in the field of technology.

Steven Paul Jobs who belonged to a mix of Syrian, German and Swiss background was born on February 24, 1955 to Abdulfattah John Jandali, and Joanne Schieble. After his birth he was adopted into the family of Paul Jobs and Clara Jobs. He completed his schooling in California and did his first semester of college at the Reed College in Oregon, and later dropped out. He was married to Laurene Powell and the couple has a son and two daughters. Jobs also has a daughter with his relationship with Chrisann Brennan, who was a Bay Area painter. As the years went by, on April 1, 1976, along with Ronald Wayne and Steve Wozniak, Jobs founded Apple Computer, Inc. which is now known as Apple Inc. Today they have products ranging from iPhones to iPods and the latest to add to the list, the iPads.

A visionary by nature, he brought about a change in technology and the duo together came up with the first machine, Apple 1, which had a small number of prominent features. After the success of the first machine, the trio united together and built more. Apple 2 was the next which was created by them, followed by Apple 3 in 1980’s, Apple IPO, Xerox PARC and the Lisa and Macintosh in 1983.

Due to internal issues, Jobs was eventually asked to step down from the Board of Directors of the company. Subsequent to the resignation, Jobs founded the visual effects house well-known as Pixar. After which he founded the NeXT Inc., an organization that built machines with futuristic designs. By the year of 1997, Apple bought Jobs’s company, bringing him back on board and made him the CEO.

During his time, Jobs won countless awards. He was awarded with the National Medal of Technology by President Reagan in 1984, and a Jefferson Award for Public Service in the field of “Greatest Public Service by an Individual 35 Years and Under.” Along with this, he was given the title of the most powerful person in business by Fortune Magazine in 2007 and many more.

In the midst of all this, Jobs was unfortunately diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2004. Due to further complications in his health, he underwent a liver transplant in 2009. By 2011, Steve gave in his resignation as the CEO of Apple due to his health conditions. October 5, 2011 the world witnessed the demise of an inspiring legend in the field of technology.

Apple states on their website, “Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”
