Pink Walkathon held on 28th October 2011 was the biggest breast cancer walk organized as part of BurJuman’s Safe and Sound campaign to spread awareness and provide support for breast cancer patients.
The charity walk welcomed 12,000 registered participants plus the additional non-registered ones as well. Children and adults paid Dh30 and Dh50 respectively to participate in the event. Nonetheless, all gathered to support the cause and raise funds that aimed to pay for free mammograms and support breast cancer patients.

This 3.6 km walk started off with a live entertainment performance which made the participants extremely energetic and got them charged for the walk. Other fun activities included dance and entertainment, Pink Bazaar, face painting, free drumming, arts and crafts for kids along with super breakfast offers, with great discounts and deals.
Participants sported walk t-shirts and pink caps to support the cause. People only not just brought their children but also their pets. Dogs were reported to be wearing 'Adopt Me' clothing from animal welfare centers while taking part in the walkathon.
“This was the first time I’ve attended and participated in the Pink Walkathon, although it's been happening for the last 8 years,” said Hileri Bilakhia, thrilled by her experience.
According to her, the atmosphere was lively and happening and due to so much positive energy around no one seemed to even complaint about the weather or the shortage of water.
