|Splash Spring/Summer 2012 fashion show|
Dubai known for its soaring temperatures and high humidity levels during the summer; the fun, frolic dresses was part of the collection featured by Splash (largest retail store in the UAE) in its 10th Edition of the Spring/Summer 2012 fashion show that took place on 23rd March, whose collection also featured the launch of its new denim label- Splash DNM.
The largest fashion show held by the brand was attended by more than 7000 invitees, all dressed in their tropical best, at the Al Badia Golf Course in Dubai Festival City. The golf course was completely transformed into a fashion carnival during the day which kept each and every attendee entertained throughout with the help of stimulating games, blaring music, break dancing on stage, funky photo booths, food stalls, lounges and shisha parlors.
The fashion carnival managed to capture the tropical essence in the country, with girls dawning floral dresses, crochet tops in calm, pastel colours and not to forget the boys, who religiously followed the colour-blocking season in their own unique style.
Each attendee eagerly awaited the sundown fashion show, which featured the launch of the label’s denim collection. Since history is repetitive and denims are a staple piece of any wardrobe, the denim-on-denim look was modified in the show wherein models walked the runway in flared jeans, paired with floral or soft colours top, jumpsuits, light denim jackets and basic button-down shirt, which was revamped in different styles. The male models also rocked the show with bright skinnies; though not a favourite trend of all but if rightly styled it can make a man look good in them.
Since florals are a ground breaking trend for spring, the store featured it’s most colourful dresses in neutral hues and bold prints, paired with wedge heeled sandals. The run-way also had a beach-wear segment; that had trousers and shirts with fantastic floral or graphic print, paraded effortlessly by 70 models of both genders flown in especially for the fashion show.
With beautiful fireworks lighting up the night sky, all in all the bi-annual Splash fashion show this year created a buzz and has successfully managed to gather the audience’s attention with models flaunting the breezy, casual look with minimalist accessories at the fashion paradise show.
