Manipal University, Dubai is proud to announce their association with the fifth edition of the Gulf Film Festival this year. The festival is supported by some top educational institutions like the New York Film Academy and the Doha Film Institute, the event is co-partnered by the Manipal University, who will be in charge of the festival’s digital and social media operations throughout the six day event held at the Intercontinental Hotel, and the Dubai Festival City cinemas from the 10th-16th of April.

With a dedicated media team, comprising of journalists, TV crew, photographers and designers, the final year students of the Department of Media & Communications at the university are covering the GFF 2012, updating their online content with fresh stories related to the festival all throughout the week. From interviewing the film makers, writing reviews, to designing the GFF Daily (an official GFF newsletter), the students will be doing it all. The journalists are to keep everyone informed through various social platforms, mainly the official university blog and through twitter and the TV crew comes up with teasers, reports  and short clips that give an insight to what happens each day at the film festival.

Head of Communications, Ms. Mildred Fernandes told the students that it was great to have them covering as the media again since the Dubai International Film Festival 2011, and also mentioned that all of the students have been doing good work this time and even in the previous events headed by her. After being part of the Dubai International Film Festival, DIFF 2011, this is another great opportunity for the Manipal University to provide the necessary exposure to the students and work directly with personnel from the media industry especially from the Gulf.
