SIBF is currently the sixth largest book fair in the world drawing over 924 publishers from 62 nations, of which 22 are Arab countries and 24 are participating in the fair for the first time.

"We have entered a whole new phase of the book fair in the last two years," said Mr. Mohan Kumar, the foreign language coordinator of SIBF, who has been part of the organizing committee since SIBF’s inception in 1982.

"What is most commendable is the turnout from different nationalities, not just Indian or Arab. We have an excellent collection of works for school children, young adults and others. Also students get the opportunity to meet and interact with prominent authors," said Kumar.

The previous year's edition of SIBF had a strong focus on Indian print media, which also meant a number of renowned Indian writers making appearances. Among these were Chetan Bhagat
, Ruskin Bond and former United Nations Under Secretary General Shashi Tharoor

While the legacy of these authors continues at the fair, Indian authors featured this year include Man Booker Prize winner Arundhati Roy, Bollywood veterans Anupam Kher and Deepti Naval, and Namita Gokhale.

The Indian pavilion is one of the largest and the most prominent ones at the fair, and this is credited to publisher DC Books. Participating for the fourth time this year, DC Books have come a long way from just two stalls in 2009, to 10 stalls last year, as well as taking credit for the India focus in last year's edition.
"We have become the biggest publisher in the Indian pavilion of the fair, as well as being one of the biggest sponsors of the fair. We are responsible for getting in touch with authors and their agents and publishers to schedule appearances and book signings at the fair." said Mr. Jacob, who is the coordinator of DC Books operations at the fair.
With over 500 publishers and around 10 authors scheduled to make appearances. This year's edition of SIBF hopes to be one of the biggest and most successful of all.
