Assistant Professor Dr. John Jose addressed the students of Department of Engineering & Information Technology on 19th September 2013.
Dr. John Jose has extensive experience in the field of Computer Architecture & Design. He has completed his Bachelors in Cochin University, Masters in VIT University Vellore and Ph.D. in IIT Madras, Chennai.
Dr. John shared his experience about the growth and integration of chip density over time. He gave details and insights on the multi core ‘Billion Transistor Era’. He introduced the students to the concept of Network on chip (NoC), which is an approach to exceed the limitation of communication and overcome the enormous wiring delay in future technology. The students were also informed about various routing methods for NoC architecture.
Dr. John Jose recommended various open source simulators to explore and get hands-on experience on NoC. The informative session was successful in giving the students a glimpse of how a Network on chip (NoC) environment is more proficient than the traditional System-on-Chip (SoC) environment.
The lecture was rounded off with a question and answer discussion with the students.
