"Hurry up!” My friend told me over
the phone, twenty minutes before the Inter-Department Group dance competition
held on 12th December 2013. Hurrying with my expectations
heightened, I saw a throng of students waiting to be let into the Multi-purpose
hall (Block C).

Once inside, the atmosphere
thrummed with excitement and eagerness. Lights and faces beamed alike.
The
audience screamed as the performances began with Eastern group dances and the
cheers grew louder as the show progressed, peaking at the Western group dances.
The dancing kings and queens showed off their smooth moves with bright smiles
and the crowd went berserk.
The show concluded with stunning
performances by the judges themselves and then, the results. In the Eastern
segment, the Department of Management Studies won the first place followed by the
Departments of Media & Communication and Engineering bagging the second and
third place.
The media students won again,
taking the crown for Western, with the Department of Engineering and Department
of Interior design & Architecture in the second and third places.
“I’m really, really happy. My
crew was awesome!” said first year Media student, Madhumitha Raghavan who
performed in the Eastern dance category.
All in all, the event was a
success, leaving its audience sore throated and upbeat.
