The First Publication from Manipal University, Dubai campus, School of Design & Architecture's, Book titled, "Geoffrey Bawa - A Conscious Perception", authored by Ms. Nivi Ann Monsy and published by Manipal University Press, was launched by His Excellency Mr. M. M. Abdul Raheem, Consul General of Sri Lanka, Dubai & Northern Emirates on April 20th 2015, at the campus.
The Event was attended by Dr.K.Ramnarayan, Vice-Chancellor, Manipal University, India, Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Manipal University, India, Vice Chancellor & Pro Vice-Chancellors, Registrars from various universities of Manipal located in Malaysia, Sikkim, Jaipur, Nepal, Mangalore, Mr. Ravi Panchanadan, Director & CEO, Manipal Education (MENA) FZ LLC, Dr S V Kota Reddy, Academic President, Manipal University, Dubai, Chairpersons, Faculty and Students of Manipal University, Dubai Campus.
The Book is an outcome of the School of Design & Architecture's, Study Tour to Sri Lanka in 2012. The Book has the privilege of the Foreword written by His Excellency Mr. M. M. Abdul Raheem, Consul General of Sri Lanka, Dubai & Northern Emirates.
"Geoffrey Bawa is Sri Lanka's legendary Architect, his works were a testimony of collaboration of geographical characters with climate that influenced design elements, with "interplay of materials and landscape, rich composition of architecture with synthesis of air and space which one has to witness to experience.
Sri Lanka is one of the very few places in the world that offers remarkable combination of stunning landscapes, pristine beaches, captivating cultural heritage with unique experience. The Book reveals heritage spots which are captured through power of sketching skills and digital images to culminate Bawa's true intention of holistic spaces.
The author Nivi Ann Monsy, an Alumni of Manipal University, Dubai campus has been a faculty member since 2012 to 2014 and is settled back in India today, her efforts for almost more than 2 years, at a young age are noteworthy.
The Book Launch event was followed by Cultural Event by the students to portray the multi-cultural city of Dubai, U.A.E.
