A two-day workshop was held for the final year students of Media & Communication, specializing in Advertising & Event management, on the 28th and 29th of September. This workshop was held by Percept Gulf, an advertising agency in Dubai.

Established in 1998, Percept Gulf is a joint venture between Japan’s second largest agency, Hakuhodo, and the flagship advertising agency of India’s Percept Group.The first day of the workshop held in the university campus welcomed Ali Inam, Head of digital at Percept Gulf along with Huma Shah (Social Media Manager) and Vipul Viswanath (Sr. Account Executive). 

The topic for the first day revolved around the various marketing campaigns used by companies to enhance their brand image. The students were taken through an hour long talk on how social media has radically changed the game for marketing. Over the years, it has become a powerful advertising tool for most companies and have given them the freedom to reach and engage with their customers on a more personal level.

On the second day, the students were taken to the Agency located on Sheikh Zayed Road. The Digital Head, Mr. Ali Inam, gave the students an insight about digital advertising and the various aspects involved with it. He demonstrated how an ad campaign is created and took the students through a step by step process of creating one.

The students were also taken on a tour of the agency, whereby they learned about the multiple departments that function within an Ad agency and what each department is responsible for. The two-day workshop was concluded by Ali Inam on an encouragement note to students to be more active on social media websites and have their own space online in the form of a blog as every person’s social media presence counts.
